Appellate Work
Where an appeal may arise, we are well-equipped to provide timely and focussed advice, settle appropriate grounds and appear at any hearing.
The skills required to produce the most effective appellate advocacy require years of experience, a familiarity with the procedure and the ability to deal with dynamic situations. We enjoy all of these and whether it be an appeal to the Crown Court, to the Court of Appeal, or the Supreme Court; perhaps even the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, members of chambers are ideally equipped and experienced to provide the best service imaginable.
We have worked on complex and high-profile cases of miscarriages of justice - reversing charges with solid arguments before the courts. Our experience of appellate work includes sentencing cases with voluminous evidence to work through to find new angles and lines of enquiry. We have worked on many new evidence appeals and have represented many juvenile defendants.
Our specialist team recognise the impact that a wrongful conviction can have on a person's life and support our clients every step of the way. We can advise at an early pre-charge stage on whether sufficient grounds for an appeal exist and guide clients through the whole process.
