Chambers are delighted that Michael Auty QC and James Varley together with the CPS Legal Team have received a CPS Commendation Award from the Chief Crown Prosecutor at the Annual East Midlands Recognition Evening in Leicester.
The whole Prosecution Team were commended for the case of Atual Mustafa, who murdered his partner in Derby. The investigation and legal work was exceptionally challenging. While the casework was of the highest quality, and the defendant was convicted of murder, the way everyone cared for the victim’s family also stood out. The victim’s brother wrote to thank everyone individually for their support to the bereaved family, saying that the care and respect they had received had made the difficult process of the trial much easier.
Both Michael Auty QC and James Varley were honoured to be recognised at the Awards and Chambers express their further congratulations to all individuals who were also commended at this special event.
